Washington/ New Delhi, Feb. 1: The controversial Tri-Valley University of California that is facing allegations of immigration fraud has claimed that two Indians, Anji Reddy and Ram Krista Karra, were behind the whole scam.
Hundreds of Indian students are facing deportation and their academic career has come under a cloud because of the closing down off the university by the US authorities. Many are forced to wear radio collars around their ankles so that US authorities can keep track of their movements. Adding to their discomfiture and anger, a US consulate official in Hyderabad termed the ‘anklets’ as “hip and happening”.
Responding to the allegations, Ms Susan Su, president and founder of the TVU, said that from April, Anji Reddy, who worked in TVU administrative office, and Ram, who ran a consultant company, cheated students by asking them to make payments to the latter’s account to get student I-20 and CPT approval. “TVU has fired these two persons”, said Ms Su.
Claiming that the TVU had not duped any student, Ms Su said that officials had shut down its operations over a baseless allegation made by the duo, causing problems to hundreds of students.
