When Shahid Kapoor opened the door (in shorts) at Priyanka Chopra’s house when the IT sleuths came knocking, little did he know he was in for a “not so pleasant” surprise. There wasn’t just hoopla about it, lovebirds got some unwanted attention too. Well, the case ends right there for celebrities.
But it’s a little different when youngsters get caught at their partner’s place. Often, when parents cut their vacation short, or moms came home early from work, one thing’s for sure, the bang on the door has spoilt the fun for many of us at some point of time. So what followed next?
“When I think about it now, I can’t stop laughing,” says Anuj Mehta, a businessman who got married to his childhood sweetheart last month. “My parents were out of Delhi and I called my friends home to party. Just when my friends left, my girlfriend decided to stay back for the night as it was too late. The next morning when my parents entered the house, I didn’t know where to hide her. We were caught and her parents were called,” he says, adding humour can help in sticky situations.
For Rohit Kukreja, it was quite an adventure to hide his girlfriend in the loo when his mom came home four hours before the expected time. “It freaked me out completely. So when my mom knocked on the door, I hid my girlfriend in the loo and just when my mother went to her room, I bolted it quietly for a few seconds and sneaked my girl out of the house. We were enjoying drinks so while I was cleaning the glasses, I realised that she bumped into my father at the entrance. I was really nervous, thankfully we didn’t get caught,” he laughs.
But for many things at home are pretty cool and there is no need to sneak the girl in when parents aren’t complaining about her coming home. “I never had to sneak her into the house. But yes, I’m not allowed to bring her home when my parents are not around. Sometimes when I do, I make sure they’re not in town. Only when they call and tell me they’re a hundred miles away, do I bring my girlfriend home,” quips 19-year-old Shorya.
