Legendary vocalist Pandit Bhimsen Joshi is laid to rest with a ceremonial gun salute in Pune on Monday afternoon. External affairs minister S.M. Krishna, acting as the Prime Minister’s emissary, and Maharashtra CM Prithviraj Chavan led thousands of mourners at a state funeral in paying tribute to the maestro, who died in a Pune hospital on Monday morning after a long illness.
