Investigations into the health and medicine purchase scam that had surfaced in Madhya Pradesh over three years ago leading to the resignation of the then health minister and suspension of few senior officers are moving at a tardy pace and those accused of irregularities and facing the charge of amassing wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income are yet to be prosecuted.
In the meanwhile, suspended IAS officer Rajesh Rajora, who was the state commissioner health services during the period in question has been asked to explain by the income tax department about undisclosed income of `5.21 crores, for which he would have to shell out `1.5 crores as tax.
When a senior income tax department official here was contacted, he said we have already submitted a report to the state government and it is for them to act, conduct an inquiry, and go for prosecution of those involved under the anti-corruption law.
