The talks between state government and agitating Gujjar leaders could not proceed as the community leaders insisted to involve Union minister of state Sachin Pilot and other Gujjar leaders. Chief minister Ashok Gehlot again made an appeal to the Gujjar leaders to join the talks.
Gujjar leader K.S. Bainsla and others sought intervention of Mr Pilot and other senior leaders of the community in the talks. “We need assurance from the our community leaders,” said a Gujjar leader from Pilupura, where the Gujjars have been blocking the rail tracks.
‘’We are at pain when noticed that Gujjar leaders spent new year day at the tracks. Our ministers waited for the talks but they did not turn up,” said Mr Gehlot. Talking to mediapersons, Mr Gehlot said the government was ready to resolve the issue in light of the high court verdict on quota,.
Mr Pilot and energy minister Jitendar Singh also discussed the issue on Saturday in Jaipur and expressed hope that the issue will be resolved amicably. The Gujjars continued to occupy the rail tracks connecting Mumbai-Delhi route on the 13th day of the protest. The Gujjars have been demanding five per cent reservation in government jobs for their community. Gujjar leaders consented to send their delegation for talks on Friday but backtracked suddenly seeking intervention of their community leaders with Congress.

India, Pak exchange N-installations list
New Delhi, Jan. 1: India and Pakistan on Saturday exchanged the lists of their nuclear installations for the 20th consecutive year under an agreement which prohibits any kind of attack on such facilities.
The lists were exchanged through diplomatic channels simultaneously at New Delhi and Islamabad under the Agreement on the Prohibition of Attack against Nuclear Installations and Facilities, a statement by the external affairs ministry said here. Under the agreement signed on December 31, 1988, which came into force on January 27, 1991, the two countries share details of their nuclear installations with each other on the first day of every year. The first such list was exchanged on January one, 1992. The pact is one of the best confidence-building measures between the two countries which has continued even when the relations witnessed acrimony and chill. —PTI
