Defending AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi, the Congress on Thursday said that the term “Rahul magic” was a misconception and was entirely a media creation. The young leader continues to be a “youth icon” and will travel across the country to galvanise the youth and the party workers, claimed the party.
Reacting to the media reports, AICC spokesperson Jayanti Natarajan said, “The notion that Rahul Gandhi’s magic has failed is a misconceived one.” She went on to add that nobody in the party had said anything about any such magic and it was a term “contrived by the media”.
“Rahul Gandhi is an icon of youth and works to galvanise youth and party workers. He galvanised party workers during his meetings in Bihar also and will continue to do so in the future. His campaigning was well received by party workers. We could not translate the crowd into votes,” Ms Natarajan said.
She said, “Somewhere we failed to take our message to the people. That is something we will introspect. We need to understand why the message did not reach.”
