Justice A.K. Pathak of the high court has granted bail to two Kashmiri youth, accused of raping a Dutch woman, following a police report saying the victim had consented for the act. The court granted bail to accused Yasir Altaf and Omar and asked them to furnish a bail bond of `20,000.
The court accepted Altaf's lawyer Sufian Siddiqui’s arguments, who had placed before it evidence like phone calls recordings, emails sent by the victim and photographs showing their deep intimate relations. The Kashmiri youth was arrested following a complaint lodged by the victim at CP police station.
The accused’s bail plea was rejected by a lower court in July on the ground that the probe was at an early stage. The accused claimed the Dutch woman in her emails sent in February 2010 and March 2010, has expressed her “happiness about the cherished moments spent in Kashmir” with him, which is completely contrary to the allegations made by her.
“It is a case of false implication with virtually no evidence and the entire chain of circumstances cogently and firmly missing from the complaint, thus rendering the complainant’s theory as false, concocted, implausible and contradictory,” he said.

Delhi police on Facebook

Nov. 24: To generate awareness and invite suggestions on how to change its image as a modern police force, the Delhi Police will soon hit the walls of Facebook with commissioner B.K. Gupta personally in charge of the account.
Mr Gupta said the account will be created soon to invite feedback from the denizens and invite suggestions on how to make policing more effective. The traffic police already has its Facebook account, which get hundreds of hit everyday from tech savvy people who come up with their opinions and also report traffic violations on many occasions.
