Samajwadi Party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav has threatened to take BSP MLAs “hostage” if the Mayawati government does not withdraw the additional security provided to its ministers who, in turn, are misusing the same.
According to an agency report, Prof. Yadav told reporters in Etawah that BSP MLAs and minister had extensively misused the security personnel to intimate voters during the recent panchayat elections.
“We have incidents to prove our point. This is the first time that security personnel have been virtually deployed on election duty by BSP leaders to ensure the success of their kin,” he said.
He warned that if the state government did not take immediate steps to check this misuse of security, the Samajwadi Party would ask people to take the erring ministers and legislators hostage.

Nov. 21: The Winter Session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly starting from Monday is likely to hit turbulence on the issue of corruption as prominent Congress MLAs have decided to hit out at the ruling benches demanding probity in public life.
The Congress Legislature Party, the main Opposition in the House, is yet to elect its new leader after the demise of Jamuna Devi on September 24. Asked to comment on this situation, the deputy leader of Opposition Chaudhary Rakesh Singh Chaturvedi said on Sunday that nothing much should be read in this. The Congress legislators are fully united, he said.

Ex-minister death: CBI probe sought

Nov. 21: A day after the death of former UP minister Jamuna Prasad Nishad in a road mishap, the Rashtriya Nishad Jagran Mahasabha — the top organisation of the Nishad community — has alleged that the former minister was murdered and did not die in a road accident.
The Rashtriya Nishad Jagran has asked the Mayawati government to recommend a CBI inquiry into the incident.
The mahasabha held a meeting to condole the death of the former minister and its leaders asserted that the “accident” was actually a part of a conspiracy to eliminate Jamuna Prasad Nishad.
The mahasabha has also appointed Chandra Bhushan Singh Nishad as its lawyer in the Supreme Court. The mahasabha will shortly file a petition in the top court seeking CBI probe into the “accident”.
