Delhi police commissioner B.K. Gupta on Saturday asked his men to treat people with compassion when they approach them for help. He said they should treat them the same way, they would like their family members to be treated.
Speaking on the occasion of the passing-out parade of a batch of 336 sub-inspectors (SIs) of the Delhi police, Mr Gupta said that people come to the police station when they are in distress. “Please treat them with compassion. Treat them the way you want your family members to be treated by the police,” he said.
The new police chief also asked the fresh recruits to utilise technology to the maximum possible extent as it helps in supplementing human resources. “Technology has improved like anything and the force should use it for the benefit of people,” he said.
While noting that the new recruits would go through a one-year on-the-field training as they would be posted at various police stations, Mr Gupta said that they will come in handy in solving several pending criminal cases. The batch includes 57 postgraduates, besides law graduates and MBAs.
