Was it a coincidence that the 18-year-old handicapped boy Karan-deep Singh Arora died after being left unattended by his parents who ended their lives on railway tracks in Sarita Vihar on Monday?
If the initial post-mortem report of the deceased is to be believed, the Delhi police has reasons to doubt the claims that the couple poisoned their son before ending own lives. The doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, who conducted the post-mortem of Karandeep, who was found dead in his F-block Sarita Vihar residence on Monday, told the police that “traces of food” were found in the respiratory tract of the deceased, which could have led to his death.
“So far, the doctors have told us that no traces of any poisonous material were found in the body. It is not clear what caused his death. The viscera has been preserved and it will be sent for further examination to establish whether he was poisoned. We are also awaiting the final post-mortem report before arriving at any conclusion,” a senior police official said.
Police sources revealed that Karandeep was mentally and physically challenged and needed constant attention. “It is quite possible that he didn’t die of poisoning and choked to death after intaking food. It can be pure coincidence that his parents left him unattended at their residence while they committed suicide by jumping in front of a train. However, nothing concrete can be said before the doctors give their final opinion,” a source said.
Karandeep was a Class 8 student of Tamanna School, an institution for differently-abled children in south Delhi’s Panchsheel area. His parents, Saminder Singh Arora and his wife Nimmi Arora, were found dead on railway tracks near Mohan Cooperative Industrial Estate on Monday morning.
The police claimed to have recovered three suicide notes from the family’s residence in which the couple referred to financial crisis after suffering losses in business as the reason for ending their lives.
