Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary incharge organisational affairs Ramlal said here on Monday that the BJP is a cadre-based party and it is the responsibility of those managing the party affairs to maintain every party worker’s dignity and honour.
Mr Ramlal was addressing the concluding session of State BJP’s two-day executive meeting. He said that the party should become sensitive and accountable to the people. This stern message acquires significance as it came amidst growing criticism of state ministers and their style of functioning. Many of them face the charge of corruption and are constantly under attack for distancing themselves from the public and party workers.
Mr Ramlal described the BJP organisation in Madhya Pradesh as a model before the whole country and said this is due to the hard work and sacrifices of lakhs of party workers. He said it is time to brace up and meet the hopes and aspirations of the people. He said that the party workers should be activated at the booth level since democracy draws its strength from the polling booths.
Speaking at the concluding session, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan focused attention on the country’s federal structure and accused the Centre of blocking the state’s progress by violating its constitutional rights.
Elaborating further, the chief minister said that the Centre was denying adequate quota of foodgrains for the poor and coal to run power plants in the state. He also held the Centre responsible for withholding funds meant for Indira Awas Yojna and the Prime Ministers Rural Road scheme.
The chief minister said that on 14 occasions, he has brought to the Centre’s notice various issues confronting the state.
The MPs and MLAs from the state have met the Prime Minister and Union ministers for Coal, Energy and Food to raise demands linked with the State. If Madhya Pradesh continues to remain neglected, they would be forced to resort to go on a hunger strike, he said adding that the state would have to build pressure to protect its constitutional rights.
