Distancing itself from Karnataka governor H.R. Bhardwaj's flip-flop rulings in the ongoing political crisis in the state, the Congress on Wednesday said, the party has nothing to do with the decisions and the matter is strictly between the governor and the Central government.
The Congress' latest move on the issue has interestingly come at a time when the BJP is mounting pressure on the government to recall the governor from Bengaluru. With this the party has left Mr Bhardwaj to fend for himself.
Even sources in the government informed that the top leadership was not happy with the way Mr Bhardwaj handled the situation.
"If the BJP wins the trust vote on Thursday and the state government stabilises there after, Mr Bhardwaj's survival at the Raj Bhavan may become untenable," they said.
The sources, however, said, any decision on the governor would entirely depend on how the political drama in Bengaluru gets played out and in what way the high court decides on the issue of disqualification of 16 MLAs including 5 Independents.
Speaking at the regular AICC briefing Congress general secretary and party's media department chairman Janardhan Dwivedi said, "As far as the role of the Governor is concerned, what he is doing and what he is not doing, the party has nothing to do with it.
