Faith upheld by law, says Advani

Raising the pitch further in favour of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya, senior BJP leader L.K. Advani on Sunday said after the high court’s verdict the situation in the case of the Ram Janmabhoomi controversy is no longer “faith versus law”, rather it has turned out to be “faith upheld by law”. Expressing happiness in his latest blog, Mr Advani said it was satisfying to note that after the landmark judgment, the nation had “arrived at a fortuitous point” where “judicial verdict” and “amicable solution” could be blended well.
Considered the icon of the Ram temple movement in 90s, Mr Advani, while referring to his autobiography My Country, My Life, released in 2008, said he had favoured three options — legislation, judicial verdict and dialogue — to solve the vexed Ayodhya dispute.
“I feel extremely happy to say today that after the landmark judgment delivered by the Allahabad high court two days back, the country has arrived at a fortuitous point, where option 2 and 3 identified above can well be blended,” the BJP leader said in his blog.
He also mentioned that both the RSS and the BJP have emphasised that the judgment has given judicial recognition to the faith of millions in the country. “They do believe that the makeshift temple where Ram Lalla is presently installed is Ram Janmabhoomi — the birthplace of Ram,” he said, adding that the situation no longer is “faith versus law”, it is now “faith upheld by law”.
Quoting from the pages of his autobiography, the octogenarian leader said it had been his endeavour through the six years of NDA rule under Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee to look at “speedily and peacefully” resolving the temple dispute.
Recalling the efforts made by the Jawaharlal Nehru Cabinet in the reconstruction of the Somnath temple that was demolished by “Muslim invaders”, Mr Advani said it was the same spirit in which the BJP had wanted the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
He quoted extensively from communication among Pandit Nehru, his Cabinet colleague Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Somnath Temple Construction Advisory Committee chairman K.M. Munshi.

Bajrang no to land split

Oct. 3: Founder-president of Bajrang Dal Vinay Katiyar on Sunday said the BJP would not accept the split of the birthplace of Lord Ram. He said that the truth has come out and no division of the land will be allowed. He, however, did not rule out the possibility for an amicable solution on the matter. But at the same time, he appealed to the Muslim community to come up and join them to construct the temple on the site.
