Dambulla, Aug. 21: The last encounter between the two sides provided enough fireworks for spectators and the media, but as Sri Lanka and India prepare for their crucial league game of the triseries here on Monday, visiting skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni asserted that it was now important to focus on the job ahead.
“It’s better in the interest of the team to forget what happened. But at the same time we will continue to be aggressive and give our best and do what we usually do. It’s important to move on and try and come out as winners in the next game,” Dhoni said on the eve of the game.
For India though, form of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma is a cause of concern. “They have done well for us. It is difficult for the top order to score consistently under lights. So it is important for a batsman to carry on if he gets set. That would also help the team,” he explained.
The captain also hinted at batting first thanks to the poor lighting at the stadium. “I don’t find the lights great. The first 10 to 15 overs under the lights are very crucial. If you don’t lose too many wickets then you are really set for the game,” said Dhoni.
