Expressing concern over the "language" being used by political leaders over the Telangana issue, Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj minister B. Satyanarayana on Wednesday said all the leaders should observe restraint to avoid a flare up of tension.
"Telangana leaders are taking exception to the ministers from non-Telangana regions allegedly describing those demanding separate statehood as betrayers of the country. Whereas, some Telangana leaders said they would be ready for militant struggles for achieving separate statehood. This atmosphere of animosity is not good," he told reporters here.
"The Centre has appointed Sri Krishna committee to go into the issue and we should wait for its report. Andhra Pradesh may remain united or divided. Whatever happens, rising temperatures would not benefit anyone," he said.
TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao and several Congress leaders from the Telangana region demanded an apology from the ministers from non-Telangana regions for allegedly stating before the Sri Krishna committee that those seeking separate statehood are betrayers of the country. The allegation was, however, denied by the ministers.
