The Congress on Saturday wondered why BJP chief Rajnath Singh and former UP chief minister did not visit Muzaffarnagar during the last three weeks since the outbreak of the communal violence and hinted that he was only trying to fish in troubled waters.
“It is a surprise to me that Rajnath Singh did not visit Muzaffarnagar since the riots broke out. He was a chief minister of that state. What prevented him from visiting the state? If anybody wants to fish in troubled water, he should not do it... I do not know whether he wanted to or intended to go there or not,” party spokesperson P.C. Chacko told mediapersons here.
He was speaking hours after the BJP leader, who was denied permission to visit riot-hit Muzaffarnagar, accused the SP government of selectively targeting his party leaders.
