Overcoats for teachers in Ernakulam district

Kochi: Teachers in high schools and higher-secondary schools under the district panchayat will have to wear overcoats as uniform soon.
“Procedures have been initiated to make overcoats compulsory for all teachers in these scho­ols. A final decision in this regard will be taken in a meet to be held on October 4. Representati­ves of teachers, education officials and political leaders will attend the meeting,” district panchayat president Eldhose Kunnapilly said here on Friday.
Meanwhile, a circular have been sent to all schools to observe Oct­ober 1 as ‘Elders’ Day’. “Renowned poet Chemmanam Chacko will inaugurate the official programme on the day. School students will greet elderly people living near their houses by offering flowers and clothes,” he said.
