An epic turn to her next role

You saw her in Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo and then in her own Swayamvar. But now, Ratan Rajput is ready to try her hand at something she hasn’t done before: A mythological show.
In Swastik Productions’ magnum opus based on the epic Mahabharat, Ratan plays the role of Amba. She tells us she is happy that producer Siddharth Kumar Tewary had faith in her ability to do justice to the part — which couldn’t have come at a better time.
“I had just celebrated my birthday and come back to Mumbai from a trip to the US. Siddharth was in Kashmir for the shoot and he called me from there and said, ‘I need you in the show’. I told him this would be tough, after all, how could I start, all of a sudden, without any preparation? But then he said something tremendously encouraging to me,” Ratan recounted, when we asked her about bagging the role of Amba.
We hear that Siddharth assured Ratan that he had complete faith in her talent and was confident that she would be able to do justice to the role of Amba, notwithstanding the lack of preparation time.
His kind words meant a lot to ratan, who now says that she has even more faith in her producer than in herself, as a consequence! “I have done my bit already and now I am eagerly waiting for the show to come on air,” she enthused.
Ratan says she doesn’t like the word “comeback” being used for her part in Mahabharat. “I never went anywhere! I was just concentrating on the other priorities in my life. And I was looking for something which really excited me,” she explains.
As for the icing on the cake, it was when Siddharth shot Ratan’s very first scene for Mahabharat himself. “I was so happy when Siddharth shot my opening sequence. It was really the icing on the cake for me,” Ratan said.
