Say goodbye to bling and hello to foreplay with patterns, silhouettes, sleeves styles, beautiful cuts and prints. Going minimal on embellishments is the mantra designers are adopting as loud prints and jaw dropping hues are bright summers.
“Less is more is the mantra of this season and no bling on your garments would make you look very fresh,” says Rohan Bhargava, owner of Muah.
Coochhie Coo’s Sagrika Goyal says that bling being a staple, one should guard against it becoming too over-the-top.
The fashion aesthetics are now shifting to cuts and style quotient marked by colour palette and contouring.”

During the global depression of the 30’s when fabric rationing in the world was a given, Christian Dior and Chanel created their mark and inspired women of that decade to don the most opulent garments. As the world struggles yet again with a global depression, yet again bling lifted the spirits of the avid shoppers.
“As pay cheques were cut, bling became the anti-depressant, but as the economy recovers, a subtle shift in the consumer’s mind is coming to the forefront. Cuts and silhouettes are gaining more prominence, subtle and chic texturing that whispers extravagance takes the forefront, but bling can never be ignored completely, so it partially holds its ground with trimmings and accents in bling which are still fancied by
the fashionistas. It’s too early to say ‘blinged–out’ yet,” says Mona of the label Monapali.
Fashion today is understated, stylised and elegant. The bling of yesterday has been replaced by immaculate draping, sensual fabrics, exquisite styling, luxurious hand-feel and subtle simplicity.
“The consumer preferences have evolved to appreciate well structured garments over surface ornamentation and bling. Your personal style must come across strongly in fashion sensibility,” says designer Payal Jain.
