In the backdrop of escalating violence and the looming threat of a military strike by the United States in Syria, India has asked all its nationals to leave the war-torn country immediately.
The external affairs ministry spokesman said Saturday that the earlier advisory for Indian citizens urging them not to travel to Syria remains in effect.
There are an estimated 25 to 30 Indians in Syria now, and the Indian embassy in Damascus is in touch with them. All Indians in Syria are safe, the MEA said.
The advisory for Indian nationals in Syria has been reiterated in the backdrop of reports from Washington that a US military strike might be imminent.
