Tirupati: The Samaikhyandhra agitation in the temple town received a major boost with the employees of the TTD, which has the largest work force for any administration in the district, deciding to intensify the stir by enforcing “mass leave” apart from taking out a Sadbhavana Shanti rally on Friday.
This is the first time in the 80-year history of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, that all the TTD employees, including the temple priests and veda pundits, have gone on a mass leave protesting a common cause.

Hyderabad: The Seemandhra agitation, demanding to keep the state united, has now completed a month. Though the Congress leadership has ruled out going back on its decision on state bifurcation, Seemandhra continues to be rocked by protests. With shutdown of business establishments, indefinite strikes by around 5 lakh government employees and teachers, normal life has come to a standstill in the region.
The heat of the Seemandhra agitation even reached Hyderabad and with protests and counter protests by Seemandhra and Telangana employees, the government offices, including the Secretariat, have turned into battlegrounds. Almost half of the Seemandhra ministers resigned from their posts to show their opposition to division.
During the last 30 days, the administration has been paralysed and confined to four walls. The educational institutions are shut, while RTC buses are not plying. RTC has sustained a loss of around Rs 250 crore. APNGOs, which are on an indefinite strike, are demanding resignations of MPs and Union ministers from the Seemandhra region. Anticipating increase in tension, heavy police force were deployed in the government offices.

Employees on strike not to receive pay
Hyderabad/Vijayawada: Most of the four lakh state employees in Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions will not receive salaries on September 2 due to the ongoing employees’ agitations opposing state division.
While a majority of the employees are on strike and are not eligible for salary under the “no-work-no-pay” rule, some others cannot be paid because 13 district treasury and 192 sub-treasury offices have remained closed since midnight of August 12.
However, police, employees of few essential services and pensioners will be paid as per schedule.
