Prior to giving final shape to its invasive “Dastak” poll campaign, the BJP studied various styles of campaigns, including US President Barack Obama’s, where it found that despite focusing on the social media battle, Mr Obama campaign team gave a lot of importance to the conventional campaigning style.
Other than highlighting BJP’s poll planks of good governance and development, party leaders and workers will give booklets carrying headlines along with two to three paragraphs of various newspapers articles on the “10 years of Congress’s misrule.”
Another booklet carrying caricatures and cartoons appeared in national and regional media, highlighting the various “scams and misgovernance” under the Congress government will be given. The booklet with compare the UPA’s rule with that of the BJP led NDA’s six years rule.
The BJP feels that one might not believe if party leader say something against the ruling Congress but if the same thing is reported in newspapers, not one but many others, it will have an impact on the voters. Not only this, the headlines will also help in refreshing people’s memory with the assortment of media reports on the wrong doing of the Congress-led UPA government.
The campaign team has carefully collected the media clippings, which not only have Oil for food scam, misuse of farm loan waiver scheme scam, 2G spectrum scam, coal block allocation scam but also various farmers related issues to number of times petrol and diesel prices have hiked during the UPA-1 and 2, among other issues.
