Amidst no early end to the simmering tensions between India and Pakistan in sight and both sides accusing each other of ceasefire violations, the Pakistan high commission in New Delhi on Monday said that the offices of its national carrier in the capital and in Mumbai have received security threats.
The current chill in bilateral ties is also expected to impact a decision on the border guarding forces of the two countries which are slated to be held later this month in Lahore. There are fears that these talks may not be held in the light of the current chill in ties.
The three-day bi-annual talks between the directors general of the Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistan Rangers were scheduled to be held sometime between August 30 and September 5.
The Pakistan high commission is learnt to have taken up the matter of threats to the PIA with the ministry of external affairs with the latter reportedly having assured it that necessary security would be provided.
An FIR has been lodged by PIA officials against unknown persons under Defacement of Public Property Act and Threatening (506/507).
Pak high commission spokesperson said on Monday that Pakistan has sought the safety and security of PIA offices in Mumbai and Delhi.
