Parveez Rasool needs to play the waiting game

For close to one week, a lot has been said about Parveez Rasool's exclusion from the playing XI of the Indian team in the series against Zimbabwe. But Rasool, who is one of the very few from the valley to have made the cut, should feel good about the fact that he was in the squad and has every chance of making it to the final eleven in the near future.
Rasool's hard work can be seen through the kind of performances he has come up with in domestic matches and was rightly awarded a place in the Indian squad by the selectors. He is young and he will also get his fair share of opportunities if he continues to perform consistently at the domestic level.
Getting to wear the India colours should serve as a motivation and knowing the fact that he was agonisingly close to getting into the Indian team will keep his hunger alive. While everybody is entitled to have their opinion on his exclusion, one also has to understand that at the end of the day only eleven get the chance to play for the country.
Keeping in mind the fact that Amit Mishra was doing really well in the series, it is only fair to have given him an extended run, not to mention the fact that guys like Ajinkya Rahane and Manoj Tiwari have travelled with the team for more than six months without getting a spot in the team. The Indian cap does not come easy and one has to wait for the right moment because the when it comes to getting into the Indian side, the level of competition is unbelievably high.
There is nothing like performance in the field and if knocking on the door is not good enough, one should break the door to get into the side which can only happen through consistent performances that cannot be ignored for long.
Rasool has the whole world infront of him and he should not be disheartened about being left out of the playing XI. It is a learning curve for him and as we all know that the biggest room in this world is the room for improvement. He should strive everyday to reach the top and his exclusion, about which anybody who is somebody has something to say, might well turn out to be a blessing in disguise which will make young Rasool tougher mentally. And those who have played the game will know better than anyone that mental toughness is also a very important aspect of the game apart from his bowling skills.
