A little over five months after the anti-terrorism squad (ATS) made public the photographs of the four wanted accused in the triple blasts that took place on July 13, 2011, they have received well over 150 phone calls from various places across the city and rural parts, claiming to have information on the dreaded terrorists. However, all investigations on these tip-offs have hit a dead end, said an ATS official.
Additionally, ATS sources have revealed that another accused, hawala operator Muzaffar Kola, proprietor of Dubai-based Kola Enterprises, who funded the blasts, has shut his shop located in Golsukh market and is now untraceable. “We will be informed by respective authorities in case Kola is traced by the Dubai police,” said an official.
The four accused are Mohammad Ahmed Moh-ammad Zarrar Siddhib-appa alias Yasin Bhatkal (30), Tahaseen Akhtar Wasim Akhtar Shaikh alias Monu (23), Asadu-llah Akhtar Javed Akhtar alias Tabrez (26) and Waqas alias Ahmed (26).
Maharashtra ATS chief Rakesh Maria said, “They indoctrinate a few locals and use them to find a rented room. They then pose as students and produce fake identification cards. Our worry is that these terrorists in future will again use
new names and identities pretending to be students.”
Additional commissioner of police, south region, Krishna Prakash said, “The credentials of every individual who is living on rent in south Mumbai is being verified and those landlords who are not informing us about their tenants will be booked under Section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the IPC.”
