Later this month, at the Wonder Festival 2013 in Japan. Developed by Sagawa Electronics, the Powered Jacket MK3 bears an uncanny resemblance to the Amplified Mobility Platform Suits that tear through Pandora in James Cameron’s Avatar.
According to Mashable, the robotic exoskeleton can even let the user go on a jog, and is nimble enough to pick up a small egg without cracking it. The suit comprises an aluminum and carbon fiber frame that weighs only 55 pounds, despite being seven-and-a-half feet tall. Users can strap themselves into the motorised joints, and then simply move to their will in order to activate the suit’s corresponding limbs that absolutely mimic the wearer’s every action!
The company has stated that five such suits will be created with a price range of around $123,000 — the company has even come out with a comic to help further develop and pique the MK3s origin story.
