Taking note of complaints regarding violation by colleges in admission process, Delhi University has decided to constitute a high-powered enquiry committee headed by a retired judge.
Dean, Students’ Welfare, Prof. J.M. Khurana said, “The office of DSW has been receiving numerous complaints from candidates seeking admission to the undergraduate programme that colleges are defying various notifications issued by the university from time to time related to gap years, denying admission even if candidates meet the cut-off, delaying admission process unnecessarily, giving admission on first-come-first-serve basis, unnecessarily making candidates visit the office of DSW, closing the doors of the college before time, not providing basic facilities in college premises.”
Students will stage a protest at HRD ministry on Tuesday against colleges who refused admissions to applicants eligible under the cut-off released.

Light rains bring relief

The city received light rains on Monday bringing relief to Delhiites from the scorching heat and humid conditions.
According to the meteorological department, the maximum temperature was a notch below normal at 35.8 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was recorded at 27.2° Celsius, which was normal for this time of the year.
The humidity level oscillated between 88 and 63 per cent through the day.
The met department has predicted generally cloudy sky with possibility of rains in some areas on Tuesday.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 34° Celsius and 26° Celsius, respectively.
