The New Delhi district police has arrested a man who allegedly duped two engineer brothers on the promise of getting them appointed in Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
A senior police official said the accused has been identified as P. Bangaru Raju, a native of Visakhapatnam. The police said that Raju took `15 lakhs from Gondsei Sri Nagar Reddy and Gondsei Srikanth Reddy.
The Visakhapatnam police approached the Delhi police and informed about the cheating case. The police arrested the accused from Connaught Place. Raju was staying in Imperial Hotel. The police conducted a raid and arrested Raju.
A Visakhapatnam police officer identified the accused following which he was handed over to him.
The police said that the victims were looking for a job when they happened to meet the accused in 2010. Raju demanded `10 lakhs each to get them appointed in Steel Plant. Later, he agreed on `15 lakhs. The accused was given `14.70 lakhs in four instalments by the victims’ father who had to sell his land and mortgage gold ornaments to arrange the money. After receiving the money, Raju gave them an appointment letter signed by joint secretary, steel ministry. The victims later on got to know that they were cheated. They contacted police and registered an FIR against him.
