A man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping a 24-year-old woman, who along with her family, stayed as a tenant in his house in Shalimar Garden area here.
The victim, her husband and their three-year-old daughter stayed in the second floor of the house owned by Nazim, Shalimar Garden police outpost in-charge Iftqar Qureshi said.
Nazim raped the woman when she was alone in the house last afternoon, he said, adding the landlord threatened her of dire consequences if she informed anyone about the incident.
On the complaint of the victim, a case was registered and the accused arrested, Qureshi said. The woman has been sent for medical examination, the police official said.
Meanwhile, a 52-year-old woman was allegedly robbed of `1.3 lakh outside a bank at gunpoint by two armed men in Ghantaghar area of Ghaziabad on Thursday.
The woman, Rupa Devi, was coming out of Punjab National Bank after withdrawing `1.30 lakh when two men riding on a motorcycle snatched her bag at gunpoint and fled, the police said.
A case has been lodged and a search is on to nab the two men, the police said.

Nonagenarian woman who had a stroke cured

A 90-year-old woman fully recovered from a stroke after she was treated with thrombolytic drugs, doctors at a city hospital claimed on Thursday.
Thrombolytic therapy is the use of drugs to break up or dissolve blood clots, which are the main cause of both heart attacks and strokes, said Dr Vinit Suri, senior consultant, neurology, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals.
The doctor claimed that the patient Harsharan Kaur has completely recovered from stroke in an hour of being treated by thrombolysis, which is normally prescribed for patients in the age group of 18 to 80.
Kaur suffered a brain stroke due to which she suffered complete paralysis of left arm and left leg. She could not turn her eyes to the left. She was rushed to hospital within two hours of stroke and regained near complete strength in the her left arm and leg over the next one hour.
