The Central Reserve Police Force has been inducted into the Hockey India fold as an associate member on Wednesday paving the way for the paramilitary force team to participate in all the national championships in future.
With CRPF’s entry, HI now has 13 associate members along with 29 affiliated members and two state olympic association members.
“The police services have contributed immensely in the development and promotion of Indian hockey. With CRPF becoming an associate member, it will provide hockey players with job opportunities and showcase their talent through CRPF. I welcome CRPF for their entry into Hockey India,” Narinder Batra, secretary general, HI said.
CRPF have participated in the All India Police Games and some major tournaments like Nehru Cup hockey tournament, Surjit Singh Memorial hockey tournament and the Beighton Cup. Vivek Dube Khajan Singh Tokas will be the president and the secretary general of the CRPF team.
