Beneath Bollywood’s glamorous exterior beats an often charitable heart. And so it was that at a recent event in Dubai, B’town’s A-listers, including Salman Khan, Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan, did their bit to raise money for a good cause. The event was put together by actor Rohit Roy, in aid of an organisation that works for underprivileged children.
“Yes, the event was organised by Rohit and he got Bollywood stars to contribute for the cause,” said a close associate. Salman, Deepika and Saif donated some of their iconic outfits from their hit films, which were then auctioned at the fundraiser.
What was surprising though, was that while most actors’ contributions managed to net between 7,000 to 10,000 dirhams, a leather jacket donated by Hrithik Roshan garnered a winning bid of 11,000 dirhams — among the highest bids of the evening.
Our source added that with the huge fan following Duggu enjoys in Dubai, the steep bid wasn’t that shocking. Sources close to Hrithik say he was overwhelmed when he heard that his contribution had managed to raise so much money for the cause.
“Also, it wasn’t just about splurging exorbitantly on a star’s memorabilia. It was people’s generosity towards the cause itself,” added the source.
