With the India team doing well at the ongoing Champions Trophy in England and Wales , the selectors on Monday named an unchanged squad for the upcoming tri-series in the Caribbean beginning from June 28.
Skipper M.S. Dhoni will lead the team against the hosts and Sri Lanka in the tournament, which will played across three venues in Antigua, Jamaica and Trinidad.
Each team will face the other twice in the league stage with the top two making it to the July 11 final in Port of Spain, Trinindad. India have already made it to the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy winning all three of their group matches and are strong contenders for the title. The biggest single positive that has emerged at the tournament, being held one last time, are that they are looking settled as far as the openers are concerned.
With senior pros Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir out of favour with the selectors, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma have grabbbed the opportunity with both hands and are looking solid in the role, successfully playing their natural game in seaming English conditions.
India's fielding has also gone up a notch with agile yougsters making it hard for the opponents to score. The bowling unit, with a fully fit Umesh Yadav and a street smart Bhuvneshwar Kumar, has also delivered for India.
Saurashtra all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has kept things tight with his bowling and fielding and the selectors decided to continue with this young outfit ignoring seniors like Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh.
Squad: M.S. Dhoni (capt), Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Dinesh Karthik, Murali Vijay, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Irfan Pathan, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Amit Mishra, R. Vinay Kumar.
