A 14-year-old Class 8 student allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling at her house in Kirari Village of Aman Vihar area in Outer Delhi after reportedly being scolded by her mother.
A senior police official said the incident took place on Sunday night. The deceased has been identified as Kiran, a student of a nearby government school.
“Kiran was having food on Sunday night when she had an argument with her mother. Kiran told her mother that she needed more healthy food. Her mother asked her to eat the food served to her. Her mother then scolded her for not having her dinner after which Kiran went to her room and hanged herself. A few minutes later, her family members found her hanging from the ceiling and called the police,” said a senior official.
The official said Kiran was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital where she was declared brought dead by the doctors. The police did not recover any suicide note.
“The exact reason behind her extreme step is yet to be ascertained. The police has recorded the statements of her father Lal Bahadur and other family members,” said the official.

Ndmc to launch self-assessment of properties

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation has decided to launch a self-assessment scheme for regularisation of unauthorised construction already carried out by the residents to the extent as permissible in respect of ground coverage, FAR and height according to the development control norms notified in the Master Plan-2021. The decision was taken in the standing committee meeting on Monday.
Standing committee chairman Ram Kishan Singhal said, “This move will prove useful and improve the sale and purchase of properties and in turn benefit masses.”
Under the scheme, the applicant has to file two sets of plan of existing construction duly signed by owner and registered architect, self attested copy of ownership documents supported by an indemnity bond, structural stability certificate of structural engineer, certificate of registered architect that building conforms to the development control norms as per Master Plan-2021 along with the application for self assessment. The No Objection Certificate from ASI, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation etc. will also be required.
