In Norway, where the famous book has even overtaken the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. It’s quite surprising news that in one of the most secular nations in Europe, a new Norwegian-language version of the scriptures has become the country’s best-selling book, reported The Daily Mail.
This sudden interest in the Word of God has even spilled onto the stage, where a six-hour play called, Bibelen, or Bible in Norwegian, drew successful crowds in a three-month run that recently ended at a prominent theatre in the country.
Officials from the Lutheran Church of Norway stated that the new-found interest in the Bible is evidence that faith still prevalent in a country where very few residents regularly attend church. However, Norwegian academics have announced that this is no surprise because Norway is a nation of peaceful Scandinavians who like to take a break from the hustle and bustle of their daily routines and enjoy solitude by the mountains, forests or lakesides where they settle down with a book.
Norway’s Bible Society promoted the new translation like a pop fiction novel, creating a lot of hype and anticipation by giving out teasers of the stories before its release — and it’s sure worked in their favour.
