A city court on Friday issued non-bailable warrants against two retired officers of Delhi government’s transport department for not joining the investigation in the scam relating to fitness test of commercial vehicles.
The anti-corruption branch of Delhi government moved an application in the court saying that the two are not joining investigation despite repeated notices and the probe in the scam is not progressing in their absence.
Special judge Narottam Kaushal, after going through the application, issued NBWs against Ashok Kumar Gupta and V.K. Gupta. “I am satisfied that accused persons named above are avoiding the process of law. NBWs be, therefore, issued against them returnable on July 4,” the court said.
The court was told that despite dismissal of the anticipatory bail of V.K. Gupta and despite notices being served upon him and Ashok Kumar, they are not joining the investigation. The court was also told that the investigating officer had conducted raids at their last known addresses but they were not found and the probe is not progressing as they are required for a thorough investigation with regards to conspiracy and involvement of other accused.

Over 90k forms sold, online process picks up

The Delhi University has sold a record 90,412 OMR admission forms within three days of the start of the process. Alongside, the online registrations also hit an all-time high with 22,000 paid applicants registering on Thursday.
The university received an overwhelming response on Friday with a record high of 22,000 complete forms and 44,348 registrations till 4 pm.
Meanwhile, students from the National Institute of Open School (NIOS) encountered problem while filing the admission form. The roll number assigned by NIOS to its students has 12 digits whereas the DU admission OMR form has just 11 columns. Applicants fear that their forms would not be recognised as the OMR sheet would be examined electronically. “Our councillors noticed a great deal of panic among the students from NIOS. It is to be noted that this is not an insignificant matter because lakhs of students enrol in NIOS,” said Sujit Kumar, state committee member, Krantikari Yuva Sangathan.
