Three persons, including two women, allegedly committed suicide in three separate incidents in the city on Monday night.
In the first incident, a 45-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling at her house in Uttam Nagar area of west Delhi on Monday night.
A senior police official said that the deceased, identified as Shukla Bagheli, has also left a suicide note saying that her eyes should be donated to visually-impaired persons. The official said that they got a call about the incident at around 12 am. “Shukla was unmarried and used to live in the area with her mother and a brother. She used to work with a travel agency but was jobless for past few months. Her family members told the police that she had been depressed as she was asthma patient. She took the extreme step when she was alone in her room,” said the police official.
In another incident, a 17-year-old domestic help allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her employer’s house in Safdarjung area of south Delhi.
The police said that the deceased, identified as Rashmi, had been working as a domestic help in the house of a businessman for past five years. “She hanged herself on Monday night. The police has not recovered any suicide note from the spot. The reason behind her extreme step are yet to be ascertained,” said the police official.
The third incident was reported from Wazirabad area, where a 24-year-old unemployed youth committed suicide by hanging himself. “The deceased, Satish, used to live in the area with his family. His wife had gone to her paternal house when he hanged himself. We are looking into the matter,” said the police official.
