Preeti enjoys to go with the flow

She made a foray into acting with Balaji’s Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki and since then there has been no looking back for this young actress, who was later seen in many TV commercials and daily soaps. Preeti Gupta, whose recent Hindi film Mere Haule Dost is slated to release next week, is happy about the way her career is taking unprecedented turns.

Her crossover project Blemished Light, which was shown at the Cannes Film Festival this year, also got rave reviews, and her role as a homosexual girl was noticed by the jury.
Speaking about her projects, Preeti informs, “Both these roles are very different from each other. Mere Haule Dost is a light-hearted film about college, where I play a simple sweet girl next door who messes with her fiancé all the time. While shooting for this, we had a great time, as the mood was jovial and fun-filled. However, Blemished Light is a serious film about social oppression and I play a homosexual girl struggling with my identity. The role required a lot of hard work and I took my training from Geoffrey Horne in New York. It was great to work with Dilip Shankar and Adil Hussain, who mentored me through this intense and demanding script.”
Speaking about her initial preparation before entering the mainstream cinema, Preeti mentions, “I just went with the flow, ads led to television, TV led to my quest for learning more, that led to Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, and after I passed from that college movies were the next destination. Though I trained purely for the love of method acting, I really didn’t know I would be doing movies at that time. I think life decided these things for me and I just went along with the flow.”
Speaking about her forthcoming projects and interests, Preeti mentions, “Whenever, I get free time I like to read, write poetry and cook. I always keep a book handy to keep me grounded in the mad world of showbiz. Right now, I’m trying to work on putting two Neil Simon plays together, and later this year a feature film with a French director is on the charts.”
