The BJP on Thursday demanded initiation of criminal proceedings against chief minister Sheila Dikshit for allegedly misusing public funds on an advertisement campaign to get political mileage ahead of last assembly polls.
“We demand registering a criminal case against the Delhi CM for misusing the hard-earned money of tax payers in her election campaign in 2008. We demand immediate action based on the recommendations of the Lokayukta in this matter,” former Delhi BJP chief Vijender Gupta told reporters here.
“A party delegation will meet the President and apprise him of the realities and convince him to accept the Lokayukta recommendations. It is a national shame that huge public funds was siphoned off for party purposes in the capital,” he said.
Delhi Lokayukta had on Wednesday held Ms Dikshit guilty of allegedly misusing public funds on an advertisement campaign to get political mileage ahead of last Assembly polls and recommended recovery of `11 crore either from her or Congress.
“This case is example of height of immorality and shamelessness as the indicted chief minister said yesterday she does not have any guilt complex. She should have resigned by now. Now, the people of Delhi will teach her a lesson in the coming elections,” said Mr Gupta.

ASI claims Noc must, sdmc sticks to stand

Taking note of the news item carried in this newspaper on May 17, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has issued a clarification saying that obtaining a No Objection certificate (NOC) is must for any construction activity within prohibited/regulatory areas of ASI-protected monuments in South Delhi and there has been no change in the rules and regulations.
The news carried in this newspaper was regarding a resolution moved in a meeting of the SDMC standing committee by chairman Subhash Arya on May 15.
The resolution, a copy of which is with this newspaper, says that not all property owners in South Delhi should be asked to get NOC from ASI as not all properties fall in the prohibited/ regulated/ restricted area.
The SDMC standing committee resolution was moved keeping in view the hassles faced by residents in areas not falling in prohibited/ regulated/ restricted area.
