They owe it to Greg Pembroke from New York, who began taking crying photos of his baby sons, Charlie, 22 months, and William, three-and-a-half years, and cleverly captioning them with funny reasons.
His Tumblr photo blog, Reasons My Son Is Crying, was an instant hit, and the captions only got funnier with every passing day as more and more innovative photos were uploaded. Now, he’s accepting photos from parents globally to celebrate the ‘toddler culture’, with the best ones winning a camera, reported The Daily Mail.
The quirky tags do evoke giggles, such as ‘his milk was in the wrong hand’, ‘her mother didn’t pick her up quickly enough’ and ‘I broke his cheese into half’, to mention a few. Pembroke’s Tumblr site has its share of ardent followers, but there is also a majority that deems it unethical. Has the father thought about how his sons will feel about his pet project once they grow up, they point out. But he has dismissed instigations that he’s damaging his sons’ childhood.
The photo blog initially started off as a hobby for Pembroke who used to upload pictures of the babies on Facebook. Within days, it went viral, and the blog has even been translated into Chinese and has attracted book publisher interest.
