London, July 19: Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner, described as one of the most green aircraft, made its international debut at the Farnborough airshow in Rushmoor district of Hampshire in England. The week-long airshow, which was launched on Monday morning by British business secretary Vince Cable, will be open till July 25.
Boeing’s flight-test airplane, ZA0003, landed at Farnborough on Sunday, a day before the start of show and will remain on static display through to midday on Tuesday. Boeing had a good start at the airshow as Emirates airline on Monday announced a multi-billion dollar order for 30 Boeing 777-300ERs and GE Capital Aviation Services ordered 40 Boeing 737-800s.
Boeing’s main competitor, Airbus, is
presenting its two flagships, the A400M and the A380 at the airshow. Airbus also started getting orders on the first day GE Capital Aviation Services ordered 60 Airbus A320 planes, Air Lease Corp. ordered 20 A321 aircraft and 31 A320s and Aeroflot ordered 11 Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
The airshow has 1,300 exhibitors from 38 countries, including India. India’s junior defence minister, Mr M.M. Pallam Raju, is visiting Britain to attend the airshow.
