Riding on the high of the recent total whitewash Down Under, India’s cricket fans are gearing up for the IPL with renewed energy. In fact, TRP ratings which have continually been slipping over the years, is expected to grow again in 2013. With a barely a week to go before the opening ceremony at the defending champions’ turf in Kolkata, franchise owner Shahrukh Khan is pulling out all stops with performances by rapper Pitbull, Katrina, King Khan himself and more.
The new season has much in store for fans, with a brand new team, new lineups, fresh players and political controversies in the mix.
Deepak George, Bengaluru-based SAP consultant, is a massive fan of Chennai Super Kings and is rooting heavily for their come back this time. “I grew up in Chennai and CSK have been consistently good,” he says talking about his loyalty to the team, “They have always dominated the tournament, either winning or at least reaching the final stages.”
