A complaint has been registered against a man for allegedly kidnapping his daughter for marrying against his wishes, the police said on Monday.
The SSP on Monday directed the concerned police officer to investigate the matter on the victim’s husband complaint that she was kidnapped from outside a college here on March 14.
Satinder Kumar, a resident of Milk Lachhi area, said in his complaint that his wife was kidnapped by his in-laws when she had gone to submit her admission form in college, the police said.
The marriage of Kumar had been solemnised on November 21 at Arya Samaj temple in Shakarpur, Delhi.
According to the police, on December 6, the victim had registered a complaint at the Surajpur police station and Khajuri Delhi kotwali stating that she feared that her father and brother may kill her as she had married against their wishes. She had also demanded police protection.
Kumar said that her family members were against their marriage and were searching for them.
“The victim had gone to a college in Greater Noida to submit the admission form with her husband on March 14. She went in to submit the form and he was waiting for her outside,” the police said quoting the complaint.
Kumar has alleged that as she came out of gate, her father and brother pushed her into a car and took her with them. He feared that she may be killed.

Councillors slam NDMC vigilance wing for laxity

During a special House meeting of North Delhi Municipal Corporation on Monday, councillors strongly criticised the functioning of the vigilance department and slammed it for failing to nail those involved in corruption.
The meeting was called with a single point agenda to improve the functioning of the vigilance department.
A committee, headed by standing committee chairman, will be formed to suggest ways to improve the functioning. Leader of the House Mahendra Nagpal criticised the department for failing to file chargesheets against those suspected of corruption or violating rules.
“The maximum time allowed for an investigation to complete is three months. But in the reply furnished to the House, over 306 Regular Department Action cases are pending after the trifurcation of the corporation that happened a year ago,” he said.
