High court stays defamation suit against DMDK chief Vijayakanth

Chennai: The Madras high court on Friday stayed all further proceedings in a defamation case against DMDK leader Vijaykanth, pending before a court in Virudhunagar district.
Justice N. Paul Vasanth-akumar who granted the interim stay, admitted the petition filed by Vijaykanth, which sought to quash the defamation complaint filed against him.
Following his defamatory speech against chief minister in a public meeting held on August 3, 2012 at Desabanthu Maithanam in Virudhunagar, district public prosecutor filed a defamation complaint against Vijaykanth.
