Thiruvananthapuram, July 14: Kerala’s days are numbered. Soon the state may be known as “Keralam” as Malayalees prefer to call it.
The Chief Minister, Mr V.S. Achuthanandan, on Wednesday, promised in the Assembly to consider the demand to change the official name of the state to “Keralam”.
The state’s name is spelt “Kerala” in all official communications of the government.
Mr Achuthanandan, responding to a submission moved on the issue by the CPI(M) MLA, Mr Babu Palliserry, said that the government would hold consultations with experts before taking a decision.
Mr Palliserry said that names of various districts in the state have already been “Malayalified”.
