According to some, women’s confidence lies in what they wear. And fashion designer Giorgio Armani supports the belief. Recently, the Italian designer said that women like to wear stylish clothes because it makes them feel better about themselves and boost their everyday confidence, reported Contactmusic.
While the design czar seems to stress on stylish clothes, Delhi’s socialites and designers feel it’s a combination of many factors that make women feel confident.
In a way, model Amanpreet Wahi agrees with Armani. “Dressing up stylishly is very important. If you are dressed well, half the job is done, as the first thing people notice about you are your clothes. I have always believed in dressing up nicely as it gives me the confidence to face the world. When you are attired casually, you lose 50 per cent of your self-assurance. When I am dressed in simple track and a T-shirt, I would never go out of my house because I know I would not be my confident self. I totally agree with what Armani says and I have experienced it in real life too. Dressing up stylishly boosts your confidence,” says Amanpreet.
However, Ramneek Pantal gives more weightage to comfort factor and personality. “I won’t say that dressing in designer clothes only give you the confidence, but dressing up ‘smartly’ gives you an edge. Your clothes can be from Sarojini or any other flea market, but if you carry them well, your confidence will automatically show. But in real life, it has got a lot to do with one’s comfort level and personality. Anybody’s confidence can go for a toss if either is missing,” she say.
Designer Samanth Chauhan adds, “Not solely your clothes, your confidence depends on many elements. Your presence and the way you carry yourself and a few extra efforts in accessorising well make you stand out.”
Known for her designs and different clothes, designer Anjalee Kapoor feels dressing up gives that feel-good feeling. “Clothes are body language for many. At times dressing up in simple jeans and T-shirt gives you an aura, but dressing up gives a perk to your personality. It gives one a feel-good feeling and helps create an image that they want to show to the world. Guess this works for many women,” says Anjalee.
Stylist Vikram Seth adds, “Dressing stylishly plays a pivotal role as clothes speaks a lot. Within like 30 seconds of meeting someone, people can form their opinions. But your energy and surrounding adds to the impact. It’s a combination of multiple factors. Dressing up according to your age and keeping your look minimal and subtle is the key thing in appearing confident,” he ends.
