Delhi’s partylovers enjoying a perfect winter night out

It is that time of the year when everybody has their kitty full with party invites. Winter, especially the days around Christmas and New Year, means those cosy Sunday brunches or foggy nights out. And most of Delhiwallas agree that winter parties are preferred to those sweaty summer nights.

For many, winter revelry also means theme parties. Says socialite Tanisha Mohan, “There can be many themes for winter parties, provided hosts don’t make their guests turn up in clothes unsuitable for the weather. The famous party themes that I have attended are black and white, gold and diamonds, Oscars, Bollywood and doctor and nurses etc. What I like about these parties during winter is that you can dress up the way you want without sweating or bothering about what time of the day it is”.
Designer Anjalee Kapoor adds, “Apart from the regular colour themes parties, we also have interesting concepts like margarita nights, wherein guests come wearing mix and match clothes. Winters give you such a feel good factor that you enjoy being out”.
Talking about the trend in parties, a party regular and party organiser, Ramola Bachchan says that Sunday brunches are a passé. “It’s the time when people prefer sundowners. These are early evening events when the party begins at 3-4pm and wrap up around 10pm; the time when guests can comfortably return to their homes without being caught in freezing cold. Delhiites prefer such timing to early mornings or late night events keeping the weather in mind,” she says.
The season also means that another set of fineries are out for the ladies. “Winter means a new trend of clothes for us. Long trenches, fur coats, collars jackets and wraps along with knee high boots are out. You would see many people dressing up in animal prints,” says Tanisha. Anjalee suggests, “Jackets are a must have for winter and lot of metallic is in for this season. I combine lot of short and shift dress, maxi dresses with leggings and boots, and accessories them with metallic belts and big handbags to get the correct party look”.
And Delhi people know how to enjoy winter parties outdoor. “As people like being outdoor during winters, we have recently launched a terrace. Guests enjoy the bonfire stands during night and a sun-kissed Sunday brunch in these chilly winter is a different experience altogether,” says Manish Sharma of Pink Room, a lounge bar.
