Raipur, July 11: The Chhattisgarh police on Sunday claimed to have established link of Maoists with terrorist outfits in the country.
The alleged link came to the fore following the arrest of six Maoists involved in the July 8 attack on the house of senior Congress leader Avdesh Gautam at Nakulnar in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district, in wh-ich two people were killed.
“Preliminary inquiry by the police has revealed that hardcore Maoist Lingaram Kadopi was the mastermind of the attack. During the investigation, it was found that Kadopi, a hardcore Maoist, had been trained in terror camps in Gujarat and Delhi,” deputy inspector-general of police, Dantewada, S.R.P. Kaluri disclosed to this newspaper.
According to him, Kadopi, a product of a media institute in Delhi, has been given the charge of Chhattisgarh unit of the outlawed CPI Maoist recently after the death of top leader Azad, killed by the police in AP. Earlier, Azad was in charge of the Maoist operations in Chhattisgarh.
Kadopi had been serving as coordinator of Banabasi Chetana Ashram, a non-government organisation working in Dantewada.
