At least 75 kg of RDX and other explosives were recovered from Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district, police said on Friday.
Two bags, one weighing 50 kg and the other 25 kg, six improvised explosive devices, 19 under barrel grenade launchers (UBGL), three Chinese grenades, one Pakistan made grenade and 25 Gelatine Explosive sticks were recovered from Singpora at Nallakoot nullah in Chatroo area, about 250 km from here.
"This is one of the biggest recoveries of explosives in Jammu and Kashmir," a Jammu and Kashmir Police spokesman said.
He said the consignment was marked for terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba, which is active in the area.
"The LeT terrorists are suspected to have dumped explosives to use them at some point to disturb peace," he said.
The spokesperson said the recovery was made on a tip off that the militants had stocked a huge quantity of ammunition in the mountainous area of Chatroo.
About 250 gms of RDX is sufficient to blow up a four-storey concrete building, a police source said.
RDX is a deadly explosive. "We would know where and when this was to be used only if we arrest someone from the outfit," the source said.
