Have you ever wondered what would happen if one of those silly excuses you’ve cooked up to explain why you haven’t done your homework, or why you haven’t gone where you were supposed to go, actually happens?
Some of the most clichéd excuses… My dog ate my homework. Or, I’m going to the mall to buy some clothes. Or, my kid brother spilt ink on my project.
Padmini R., a graduate says, “I borrowed a book from my college library once and a few days later, my dog actually ate it. When I went and told the librarian, ‘My dog ate my book,’ he gave me this horrible stare like I was lying. Of course, I’ve used the excuse plenty of times before when I didn’t do an assignment, but on that day, I was so embarrassed.”
Suresh K. narrates the incident of a friend who, in an unlikely coincidence, escaped from a rather iffy situation. “My friend had to go meet her boyfriend at a mall so she had told her mom she was off to buy some clothes. When she reached there, she actually got a complimentary set of clothes at a store there. So, she didn’t get caught when she got home,” he laughs.
