“Had my mother Nargis Dutt been allowed to be treated by a team of foreign doctors who had flown in for the purpose, she might have lived for some more time,” said a sombre Sanjay Dutt, adding that no should die due to lack of treatment.
The Nargis Dutt Memorial Charitable Trust, which was started by Sunil Dutt, is collaborating with the UK NGO, Healing Little Hearts. Sharing the dais Sanjay and his sisters Namrata and Priya were of the opinion that patients, whether suffering from cancer or heart ailments, should not die for want of proper medication.
Talking about the last days of his mother Nargis Dutt, Sanjay said, “I would like to take this opportunity to reveal a bitter truth. My mother was almost at death’s door when a team of foreign doctors travelled all the way to treat my mom. She could have borrowed some more days of life if these doctors were permitted to treat my mom immediately. I would not like to name the hospital but yes, today, I realise this fact. We have thus decided to collaborate with Healing Little Hearts and support them wholeheartedly so that whoever suffers from a heart disease or cancer can seek proper medical treatment from this NGO. We also want to keep this legacy of supporting the ailing, which was started by my dad, going in whatever little ways we can.”
He adds, “I have always stood by my sisters and shall always support them for this cause. I also lend support to youth who get addicted to drugs which is an abuse to this lovely life.”
